Aluminium Fishing Line Retractor Manufacturing Process

1. Raw Material Preparation

Aluminium bar stock is procured to meet the required grade and size. Incoming material undergoes checks for machinability and surface quality before further processing.

2. CNC Machining of Housing

CNC lathes and milling machines machine the aluminium bar stock into the retractor housing, matching the specified external and internal dimensions. This process forms the housing that accommodates the internal retractable mechanism.

3. Surface Treatment

After machining, the aluminium housings receive surface finishing such as anodizing, bead blasting, or polishing. These treatments enhance corrosion resistance and provide a consistent surface appearance.

4. Spring and PE Line Preparation

The factory team prepares the internal retractable components, including the constant-force spring and the PE line cut to a maximum extension length of 60 cm. The spring is formed and tested off-line to ensure consistent tension.

5. Internal Mechanism Assembly

Technicians assemble the pre-cut PE line and spring mechanism into the machined aluminium housing. They seat the spring, route the line through the internal spool, and align all components to allow smooth extension and retraction.

6. Clip Attachment

The team attaches the clip or carabiner to the housing using mechanical fastening methods such as pins or screws, or press-fit installation. This ensures a secure connection to belts, backpacks, or fishing gear.

7. Functional Testing

Each finished retractor undergoes manual or fixture-based testing to verify smooth retraction, correct line retraction speed, and stable line feeding without snagging. Retraction force and extension length are checked.

8. Final Inspection and Packaging

Final inspection covers appearance, surface finish, and functional performance. Qualified products are packed into bulk cartons or OEM-branded packaging according to order requirements.
